Sharon attended Penn State University, where she studied marketing. Her previous employers include Prudential Securities, Hamilton Investments, Principal Financial Securities, Everen Securities, First Union Securities, and Wachovia Securities. She changed firms only once; the rest of the names changed because of acquisitions. Ironically, all of these firms have now merged and are part of Wells Fargo Securities. Sharon passed the FINRA Series 7 securities license exam in 1993.

Sharon grew up near Allentown, Pennsylvania. While attending Penn State, she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. In high school, she played field hockey and was on the track team. Running is still one of her loves.

Sharon is a long-time vegetarian and loves animals. In Chicago, she served as a volunteer for the Anti-Cruelty Society for five years. The Stamp family has a wonderful cat named Gabby and a dog named Cookie. Sharon's interests include interior design, and she is a Trading Spaces junkie. Her motto is, "A place for everything, and everything in its place." Sharon and Cary have been married since 1998 and have a 10-year-old daughter, Sarah.
